Server logs
When you open a page, the web server logs your IP address, the date and time, the full request (address including any query string), the status code, the amount of data sent, the referring page and your browser’s user agent. I use this to deliver the site, keep it running reliably and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is a stable and secure site. The logs are deleted after 15 days at the latest.
If you send me an email, I process your email address and message to handle and answer it. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is communicating with interested people and addressing their inquiries. I delete the email once the conversation is over, unless the law requires me to keep it.
Recipients
netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Straße 10, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany, hosts this site and processes connection and log data on my behalf. I use Posteo for email; correspondence and the associated communication data are processed there.
Do you have to provide data?
You have no statutory or contractual obligation to provide personal data. Loading the site requires transmission of your IP address and technical request data; without them, the server cannot deliver the page. Emails are voluntary. Without a reachable email address, I cannot reply by email.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability (Art. 15–20 GDPR). Write to the address above. You can also complain to a supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
Right to object
You may object at any time to processing under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for reasons relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). Write to eisverticker@posteo.de. I will then stop the processing unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or need the data to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
